San Julian Island

Finished Size: 60” x 78”

Pattern: San Julian by Villa Rosa

Skill Level: A great pattern for beginners!

Cuts: Pattern calls for 12 FQs for the topper.  I used a combination of fat quarters and yardage that I had in my stash.

Why I like this pattern:  This is a very simple, straightforward pattern, but I think using bold, busy prints makes the quilt visually interesting.  And because it uses larger blocks, there aren’t that many seams to match up, so it goes quicker.

Notes: I wanted the quilt to be a bit larger, so I added a 3” border. If you are a beginner and you want to use Kaffe fabric, be aware that his fabrics are a bit stretchy, which can make them difficult to work with.  I recommend starching heavily.  (If you want to learn how I starch my fabrics you can watch this video.)

(I strongly recommend purchasing your sewing machine from a local store that offers repair services. However, if you don’t have a local store, you can buy it online at Amazon (https://amzn.to/4hujsjN) and other retailers. )

Note: I am a firm believer in supporting local business…especially quilt shops.  There are so few left and more are closing all the time.  I include these Amazon affiliate links so you can easily see what products I used and because not everyone has a quilt shop or fabric store close by.  Even if you do, they may not carry everything you are looking for.  In addition, these links help support my channel and website so I can continue to provide you with great content.
